Diálogo Intereligioso reúne 50 jovens europeus em Monsanto

Decorreu entre os dias 2 e 9 de Julho de 2006, no Parque de Campismo de Lisboa, numa parceria da Ecolojovem- juventude do Partido Ecologista "Os Verdes" e da FYEG- Federação dos Jovens Verdes Europeus, o seminário "Dialogo Inter-Religioso". Esta iniciativa surge inserida na campanha que a FYEG vai desenvolver durante o ano de 2007 e que tem como lema "Unidade na Diversidade", uma campanha que visa combater a xenofobia e o racismo por toda a Europa, problemas que cada vez mais se vêem nas sociedades deste continente e do Mundo.

			Durante esta semana, cerca de 50 jovens verdes de toda a Europa (Alemanha, Bulgária, República Checa, Finlândia, Malta, Polónia, Portugal, Reino Unido e Turquia, analisaram e discutiram sobre as 3 principais religiões monoteístas: a Cristã, a Judaica e a Islâmica. Fizeram-se workshops e sessões de estudo, criando grupos de pessoas de diversos países, de diferentes religiões, no sentido de se, em primeiro lugar, aprofundar e precisar em que se baseiam estas religiões, quais as suas causas e consequências na vida pública. Numa segunda fase procedeu-se à discussão sobre os vários aspectos que estão a afectar a vida das pessoas na sociedade e também, a influência que a religião deve ter junto da sociedade.

Destes dias surgiu uma declaração final, onde é salientada a oposição a todo o tipo de interferência de qualquer religião sobre a vida política e o Estado. Estas duas entidades devem funcionar de forma independente e em torno daquilo que são os seus objectivos, sem pôr em causa decisões que o Estado, como entidade governamental decida.

Um exemplo flagrante desta interferência tem a ver com o diferendo que existe entre Israel e a Palestina, em que não pondo em causa quem está correcto na situação, se está a utilizar a religião como motivo para guerras e atentados terrroristas. Por isto repugnamos qualquer tipo de relação fundamentalista religiosa que interfira com os Governos ou entidades governamentais dos Países. É também realçado que os media devem funcionar cada vez mais como elemento esclarecedor destes assuntos e não mero espectador e muitas vezes enfatizando muitas situações que porventura não serão definições gerais do que realmente se passa. Algum respeito e cuidado na abordagem a estas situações é aquilo que pedimos, nada mais.

E pensamos que não é difícil atingir este nivel para a comunicação social. Foi uma boa semana para os Jovens Verdes, principalmente para estreitar relações com outras organizações e com a FYEG. Acreditamos que esse objectivo foi conseguido. Salientamos por isso a importância deste tipo de intercâmbio para nos mantermos cooperantes e solidarios com a Europa, em geral. Declaração - Statement of Interreligious Dialogue Youth Exchange “Interreligious Dialogue” Lisbon 2.-9.7.2006 We, the members of different green youth organizations, who gathered for the Youth Exchange in Lisbon in July 2006 in order to have an interfaith and –religious dialogue, have come to the following conclusions that we hope shall guide further work in this field.

			We recognise various problems existing in our societies, such as the lack of knowledge and various prejudices about different religions. This may create a lack of cohesion within society and can lead to intolerance, negative prejudices and even violence. Especially, misconceptions caused by media and politicians serve to further hinder communication between people who see their religion or lack of religion to be the best lifestyle and therefore are intolerant to others. We are concerned about the problems that may arise within religions about issues related to gender and sexual minorities, like questions about abortion or discrimination against women and homosexuals.

Also, the rise of religious fundamentalism mixed with politics presents an obstacle to mutual understanding and prevents a healthy dialogue from taking place. Therefore, we call for religion and state to be separate from each other, and for measures which serve to lessen the influence of religion on public life to be implemented.

We think that the best solution to interreligious problems lies in intercultural communication between all members of society. Therefore, we wish to promote a dialogue between different kinds of religions all over the world. We find the right to choose one’s religion to be the right of the individual and therefore we do not support any one particular religion and/or spirituality. Also, they should not be the main or only source of values. We declare that it is possible to be young, green and religious at the same time. We encourage further exchanges, debates and meetings between young people, also with religious youth groups and not only with political ones. We are working on finding and stressing green ideas and values in religious discussion.

We, as the Federation of Young European Greens, want to enhance the awareness of people and especially of young people on how to coexist with people from different religious backgrounds in our society. We provide information about interreligious exchanges on our website, and invite our Member Organizations to cooperate on this topic. We recommend all the Green movements to also work with religious and other organisations.
